Topic of the Week: Jesus
-Bible Study Passage:
Romans 5:6-11
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!
10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Passage Analysis:
-Verse 6: We were powerless, hopeless. (Before)
-Verse 7: Illogical/Doesn’t make sense for Him to send Jesus.
-Verse 8: But God loves us so much. He sent Jesus to die on the cross for us. When God sees us, He sees Jesus. He shows us grace; changing.
-Verse 9: Because He loves us, we don’t have to face God’s wrath.
-Verse 10: Salvation
-Verse 11: Our Response
Jesus:
-Middle finger = Center of our lives
-Tallest Finger = God’s mercy is greater than our sin. God will always love us.
-Eternal Life
**-Bridge to eternal life
**-Emphasize the need for Jesus
-Have the analogy fit the message

Discussion Questions:
-Would you die for someone working against you, who has done you wrong?
-How about someone who has done good to you? Someone you love?
-Analogy: Number Line
-Negative infinity vs. Positive Infinity
-We’re at the negative infinity. A lot of times we do things for ourselves, but ultimately we should do things for God.
-God is on the opposite side of us - positive infinity. Holy, pure.

Biblical References:
-John 14:6
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

-2 Corinthians 5:18
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.
